A LIGHT & HOPE IN OUR COMMUNITY
We believe in not just sharing the Gospel message of Jesus, but also in living it out. We are confident that God has placed us within our community with a purpose, and with that comes a great responsibility to offer care and support. Through community focused outreach events and partnerships, we are committed to ensuring that more people can experience God's love and grace.
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
Matthew 25:37-40
“HIGHWAY 192 COMMUNITY CARE PROJECT”
Located off Highway 192, The Dwelling Place Church serves a large population of homeless individuals and families residing near extended stay motels. Many families in this area also struggle with poverty and lack of access to school supplies. The “Hwy 192 Community Care Project” will focus on providing hot meals, groceries, clothing and essential school supplies for children. Our goal is to alleviate hunger, support families in need, and ensure children have the tools they need to succeed in school.
The recent rise in families living in motels and in precarious housing situations has created an urgent need for more community-based support. According to local data, approximately 2,883 individuals are experiencing homelessness, with 1,202 being unsheltered in the local area, many of whom are children who begin the school year without necessary supplies like backpacks, notebooks, or even shoes. Our church has a longstanding history of serving the community, and we are committed to meeting the growing need for food, clothing, and educational resources.
With your help, we can make a significant impact on reducing hunger and providing critical resources to support children’s educational success.
PROJECT GOALS & FUTURE EVENTS
We are committed to expanding our reach by providing essential resources to at least 150 individuals and families at each event, with a cumulative goal of serving at least 1,050 people over a seven-month period.
Through the Hwy 192 Community Care Project, we will host the following events throughout the year to ensure families receive ongoing support:
• Quarterly Community Feeding – Providing hot meals to the community. Next events: May 31, 2025, and September 20, 2025 (location TBD).
• School Supply Distribution – Helping children start the school year prepared. Scheduled for August 2, 2025, at The Dwelling Place Church.
• Thanksgiving Community Feeding – Ensuring families have a warm holiday meal and clothing. Scheduled for November 25, 2025, at The Dwelling Place Church.
Additional Support Services
Beyond our scheduled events, our church also operates a food pantry and clothing closet to provide groceries and essential clothing to those in need. These resources are available year-round to families experiencing hardships and are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
