OUR STORY & JOURNEY

On March 28th, 2008, Ezequiel Velez received a vision from God calling him and his wife to build a church where individuals and families could experience the love of God’s salvation through faith in Jesus Christ and to find hope. Initially, the vision was beyond their personal desire and comprehension, but in faith they said “yes,” trusting that God would guide them forward. In February 2009, the journey began when he and his wife Tanya, their son Daniel, their sister and brother in law, Sarai and Michael Figueroa, relocated from their hometown Brooklyn, NY to Kissimmee, FL to plant the church. This move for them was one of absolute faith. Without savings, resources and little to no experience in church planting, they moved forward trusting that God’s presence was before them, leading and guiding them.

Today, we are now a community, made up of incredible families and individuals that continue to believe in the vision and mission of our church: “We Exist to Love People How God Loves People”, and “To Be A Place Where God and Man Can Dwell Together”. We are still on a journey, filled with passion, and know there is still so much to be done. All of our families have their own unique stories and testimonies of how God has led them to be part of the TDP family. However, our story isn’t over, this in many ways is still the beginning.

Following the cloud. We can relate to the biblical story of the people of Israel on so many levels. As God’s mighty hand of deliverance would rescue them out of slavery from Egypt they would need the cloud of His presence to guide them forward and through the wilderness in order to reach the Promised Land. We ourselves have experienced our very own “wilderness” and travels. We have had many ups and downs, many mountaintop experiences; but also, the low valleys. However in all, and despite our shortcomings, God has been faithful to His Word and the vision He gave to us. Therefore, we know meeting you and your family is not by chance nor coincidence. We welcome you to be part of the amazing story and journey God is writing through our lives. This is not about us; but rather, about the work God desires to do in our lives and in our community, for His glory. We are still following the cloud!

We are The Dwelling Place Church, Inc. called to Central region of the State of Florida in the Kissimmee area. We are an independent, self-governed organization, and are classified as a non-denominational Christian Church.
