A LIGHT & HOPE IN OUR COMMUNITY

We believe in not just sharing the Gospel message of Jesus, but also in living it out. We are confident that God has placed us within our community with a purpose, and with that comes a great responsibility to offer care and support. Through community focused outreach events and partnerships, we are committed to ensuring that more people can experience God's love and grace.

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?  When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’  “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Matthew 25:37-40

“HIGHWAY 192 COMMUNITY CARE PROJECT”

Located off Highway 192, The Dwelling Place Church serves a large population of homeless individuals and families residing near extended stay motels. Many families in this area also struggle with poverty and lack of access to school supplies. The “Hwy 192 Community Care Project” will focus on providing hot meals, groceries, clothing and essential school supplies for children. Our goal is to alleviate hunger, support families in need, and ensure children have the tools they need to succeed in school.

The recent rise in families living in motels and in precarious housing situations has created an urgent need for more community-based support. According to local data, approximately 2,883 individuals are experiencing homelessness, with 1,202 being unsheltered in the local area, many of whom are children who begin the school year without necessary supplies like backpacks, notebooks, or even shoes. Our church has a longstanding history of serving the community, and we are committed to meeting the growing need for food, clothing, and educational resources.

With your help, we can make a significant impact on reducing hunger and providing critical resources to support children’s educational success.

PROJECT GOALS & FUTURE EVENTS

We are committed to expanding our reach by providing essential resources to at least 150 individuals and families at each event, with a cumulative goal of serving at least 1,050 people over a seven-month period.

PAST EVENTS

FOOD AND SUPPLY DISTRIBUTION EVENT

MAY 31ST, 2025

The Dwelling Place Church, Inc. in partnership with Target and with the support of Winn-Dixie .

As part of our ongoing Highway 192 Community Care Project, The Dwelling Place Church held its inaugural direct outreach feeding event on Saturday, May 31, 2025.

In recognition of the overwhelming generosity and support demonstrated by our dedicated volunteers and partners, we exceeded our initial objective of providing nourishment to 200 individuals. Consequently, we distributed over 300 hot meals, along with essential supplies, to those in need throughout the Kissimmee community.

The mobile outreach initiative concentrated on four high-priority locations along Highway 192, where access to food, transportation, and social services is virtually nonexistent. A significant portion of the individuals served were unsheltered, residing in concealed encampments, or occupying extended-stay motels without kitchen facilities, rendering consistent nutrition a substantial challenge. This event provided an experiential opportunity for youth, families, and local collaborators to participate in a mission with tangible and discernible outcomes.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Target and Winn-Dixie for their generous contributions of gift cards, and to every individual volunteer and donor who facilitated the realization of this outreach. Your contributions illuminated a sector of our city that was in dire need of assistance.

This event represents merely the commencement of our efforts, and we cordially invite you to continue accompanying us as we extend our reach to more lives, one act of compassion at a time.
