OUR STORY & JOURNEY

On March 28, 2008, Ezequiel Velez received a divine vision from God, calling him and his wife to establish a church—a place where individuals and families could encounter the transformative love of God's salvation through faith in Jesus Christ and discover true hope. At the time, the vision extended beyond their personal desires and comprehension. Nevertheless, moved by faith, they responded with a wholehearted “yes,” trusting that God would lead and sustain them.

In February 2009, this journey took a significant step forward. Ezequiel, together with his wife, Tanya, their son, Daniel, and their sister and brother-in-law, Sarai and Michael Figueroa, relocated from their hometown of Brooklyn, New York, to Kissimmee, Florida, to begin the work of planting the church. This decision was made entirely in faith. With no financial savings, limited resources, and minimal experience in church planting, they stepped out, confident that the presence of God was preceding them—leading, guiding, and preparing the way.

Today, we are a vibrant and growing community comprised of remarkable families and individuals who remain committed to the vision and mission of our church: “We exist to love people the way God loves people” and “To be a place where God and man can dwell together.” Though much has already been accomplished, we recognize that our journey is far from complete. Each of our members brings a unique story and testimony of how God has drawn them to be part of the TDP family. In many respects, this is still just the beginning.

Following the Cloud. We identify closely with the biblical narrative of the people of Israel. As God delivered them from slavery in Egypt, they relied on the cloud of His presence to lead them through the wilderness toward the Promised Land. Similarly, we have endured seasons of uncertainty and challenge—our own "wilderness"—marked by both mountaintop moments and deep valleys. Through every season, despite our human limitations, God has remained steadfast and faithful to His Word and the vision He entrusted to us.

We believe that your presence here is no coincidence. It is neither random nor accidental. We warmly welcome you and your family to become part of the unfolding story that God is writing through this church community. This journey is not centered on us, but on the transformative work that God desires to accomplish in and through our lives—for His glory.

We are The Dwelling Place Church, Inc. called to Central region of the State of Florida in the Kissimmee area. We are an independent, self-governed organization, and are classified as a Christian, non-denominational charismatic church.
